35 Direct Support Professional (DSP) - 4pm to 11pm - Female
About The Position
The Arc of Somerset County supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families through programs and services across group homes, employment centers, and community programs. This Direct Support Professional role is based at community group-home residences within Somerset County and is performed in person. The listed schedule is 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. The DSP assists consumers with skill development and daily living, personal care, domestic living, recreation, and socialization. The role includes supporting nutritional needs and meal planning and preparation, collaborating on and implementing Individual Service Plans (ISPs), administering medication, and supporting consumers’ participation in community networks.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license.
Nice To Haves
- One year of experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist consumers with skill development, activities of daily living, personal care, domestic living, recreation, and socialization as needed.
- Ensure assigned clients’ nutritional needs are met, including assisting with feeding as necessary.
- Assist consumers with nutritional planning, grocery shopping, and preparation of meals.
- Collaborate on the development and implementation of consumers’ Individual Service Plans (ISPs).
- Train and support consumers in all areas of their ISPs.
- Assist with medication administration.
- Train and support consumers in the community, including social, recreational, cultural, religious, and educational networks.
