About The Position

Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) provide care and support to adults with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities in a daytime program environment. Working as part of a team, DSPs support participants with daily living skills and personalized goals, help plan and participate in activities, and accompany participants on community outings. The role focuses on encouraging choice-making, independence, skill development, and achievement of personal goals. The position is full-time, day shift, Monday through Friday.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid New York State driver's license with a safe driving record.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Willingness to learn new skills; paid training is provided.
• Computer skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily support and care to people with developmental, intellectual, and/or physical disabilities, including support with daily living skills and other needs.
• Assist with planning daily activities and participate in small-group activities.
• Encourage skill development through community activity options.
• Use agency vehicles for community-based activities.
• Support choice-making and encourage independence.
• Assist with dining needs and participate in holidays and other special events.
• Work in a team environment.
• Support people in achieving their personal goals.
• Document services accurately and in a timely manner.
