About The Position

Direct Support Professionals provide care and support to adults with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities in a daytime program. Working as part of a team, they support participants with daily living skills and personalized goals, help plan and take part in activities, and encourage independence and skill development. The role includes arts and crafts, sensory and small-group activities, community outings using agency vehicles, dining support, and documentation of services. This is a per-diem position with a day shift schedule, Monday through Friday.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid New York State driver's license with a safe driving record.
Excellent communication skills.
Willingness to learn new skills.
Computer skills.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

Provide daily support and care to people with developmental, intellectual, and/or physical disabilities, including support with daily living skills and other needs.
Assist with planning daily activities and participate in small-group activities.
Encourage skill development through community activity options.
Use agency vehicles for community-based activities.
Support choice-making and encourage independence.
Assist with dining needs and celebrate holidays and other special events.
Work in a team environment.
Support people in achieving their personal goals.
Document all services accurately and in a timely manner.
