About The Position

Beacon Specialized Living supports adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, and autism to live independent and fulfilling lives in their communities. The Direct Support Professional supports individuals in a structured setting by leading activities, building skills, and promoting independence and community inclusion. The role includes supporting individuals during program hours, transportation, and community outings, while protecting their health, safety, and dignity. Training is provided for personal care and medication administration as needed. Beacon offers paid training and professional development, including the LEAP Program, through which employees can pursue nationally recognized NADSP certification and develop leadership skills.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
Valid driver’s license.
GED or high school diploma.
Compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented.
Strong communication skills and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

Lead structured social, recreational, and community-based activities.
Support individuals in building independence, social skills, and daily living skills.
Implement individual service plans and support progress toward personal goals.
Ensure individuals’ health, safety, and dignity during program hours, transportation, and community outings.
Provide personal care and administer medications as needed.
Promote inclusion and positive community engagement.
Use crisis prevention and intervention strategies to support individuals safely.
Complete required documentation, including daily logs and incident reports.
Transport individuals and supervise activities in community settings.
Prepare meals and maintain a clean, organized home environment.
