About The Position

Community Options, Inc., a national nonprofit agency providing services to individuals with disabilities in 11 states, is hiring Direct Support Professionals for its day program in Bloomingdale, New Jersey. The role provides person-centered care tailored to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. No prior experience is required; paid training is provided. Starting pay is $18.00 per hour. The posting advertises full-time, part-time, and PRN opportunities.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.
Ability to establish a comfortable and supportive relationship with individuals receiving supports.
Ability to exercise good judgment and remain calm in crisis situations.
Successful completion of criminal background, central registry, child abuse registry, and drug-testing checks is required for employment.

Responsibilities

Provide direct care to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Assist with daily routines, including cleaning, cooking, feeding, medication administration, and personal hygiene.
Monitor individuals’ health and medical needs and promptly report concerns.
Support individuals’ learning and development of independent and community-based skills.
Participate with individuals in community, social, and recreational activities.
Drive individuals to medical appointments and community activities.
Complete program documentation and billable records accurately and on time.
Develop and maintain relationships with community members, businesses, and families to build individuals’ support networks.
Cooperate with licensing and department staff during inspections, inquiries, or investigations.
Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
