About The Position

AHRC New York City is holding a HIRING EVENT for Full-Time Direct Support Professionals (DSP) for their STATEN ISLAND Group home residences. This role involves supporting neurodivergent children and adults (those with autism, down syndrome, cerebral palsy, intellectual/developmental disabilities, and other disabilities) through a broad spectrum of services. The position offers hands-on work experience and flexible schedules. The company is a large, complex nonprofit organization committed to supporting individuals with disabilities to lead full and equitable lives.

Requirements

• Personal or Professional experience supporting People with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) preferred.
• Professionalism; integrity; excellent communication skills.
• Patience is a MUST!
• Willingness to support people's preferences for community, activities, work, leisure activities, the exercise of their rights etc. in various settings.
• Ability to use a computer for data entry.
• Drivers License Required.

Nice To Haves

• High school education/GED, highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• The oversight of all safety and health considerations.
• Promoting skill development, interests, and hobbies.
• Assisting with Adult Daily Living skills (ADLs).
• Other personalized responsibilities including cooking, cleaning, hygiene, etc.
