About The Position

The Part-Time Weekend Direct Support Professional provides hands-on care to individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities in Howard County/Durham. The role supports personal hygiene, community activities and outings, social engagement, shopping, planning, cooking, and cleaning. The position works with women on alternating weekends (Saturday and Sunday) from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. The regular base rate is $22 per hour, with a $1-per-hour weekend shift differential, for a total rate of $23 per hour. A $500 sign-on bonus is paid as $250 on the first day and $250 after three months, provided the employee remains in the designated position for the specified intervals.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Current driver's license (not provisional) with fewer than 3 points on the driving record.
• Ability to transport people supported as needed.
• Some lifting and transferring may be required.
• At least 2 years of driving experience.
• At least 20 years of age.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals with participating in and exploring the community.
• Cultivate and expand independent living skills.
• Provide assistance with personal hygiene, activities and outings, social engagement, shopping, planning, cooking, and cleaning.
• Assist with developing meaningful and personal relationships.
• Complete required documentation, including incident reports, progress notes, behavior data, and fire drills.
• Administer and record medications in accordance with state and agency requirements, when applicable.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
