Direct Support Professional for Henderson - Weekends
About The Position
Thrive Homes, Inc. is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional to support adults with developmental disabilities. The role involves helping individuals with daily living needs and ensuring their safety, health, and wellbeing. The company provides supported living, community integration, personal assistance, and respite care, with a mission to help individuals with developmental disabilities lead meaningful lives in the community. The position includes assistance with individualized daily living plans, maintaining a safe and clean environment, planning and documenting programs, participating in community outings, shopping for household necessities, and arranging and providing transportation to appointments and programs. The posting lists full-time, part-time, and on-call job types and schedules of 7:00 AM–7:00 PM and 7:00 PM–7:00 AM.
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years old.
- Have a high school diploma or GED.
- Hold a current, non-provisional driver’s license valid in the state of operation.
- Be empathetic and use a team approach to care.
- Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Be energetic and creative, and have a sense of humor.
- Be able to lift 50+ pounds and perform Safe & Positive Approaches.
- Be comfortable providing hands-on hygiene care, including diapering and showering.
- Be willing to undergo drug testing and a background check.
- Driver’s License required.
- First Aid Certification required.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with people with developmental disabilities or as a caretaker is preferred but not required.
- CPR Certification.
- Medication Administration.
Responsibilities
- Assist individuals with their individualized plans for daily living.
- Ensure individuals are safe and healthy and live in a clean environment.
- Assist with planning, implementing, and documenting programs addressing social, emotional, physical, and personal needs.
- Plan and participate in community outings.
- Shop for home necessities, including food, clothing, and household items.
- Schedule and transport individuals to doctor’s appointments, shopping trips, and day programs or schools.
