About The Position

Empowered Services is hiring an entry-level Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide consistent, structured, one-on-one in-home and community-based support for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The role focuses on helping people build independence, maintain routines, and participate meaningfully in their communities. No prior DSP experience is required; paid training is provided.

DSPs support daily routines and household structure, assist with community activities and errands, and encourage independence while maintaining clear expectations. The work may include behavioral and emotional-regulation support, crisis support, personal care, and helping maintain a safe, predictable, respectful environment. The posting describes customer schedules that may include weekday morning or afternoon shifts and alternating weekends. Schedules are based on customer needs.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Current auto insurance meeting state requirements.
• Ability to pass a background check; not all records are disqualifying.
• Comfortable supporting personal care needs.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in caregiving, DSP, behavioral support, or IDD roles.
• Experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
• Strong communication and boundary-setting skills.
• CPR/First Aid certification.

Responsibilities

• Support daily living routines, including meals, hygiene, and organization.
• Assist with community access, including shopping, errands, and outings.
• Provide emotional-regulation support using calm, structured approaches.
• Maintain clear boundaries and consistent expectations.
• Assist with household upkeep and organization.
• Encourage independence and personal responsibility.
• Communicate updates with care teams and complete required documentation.
• Help maintain a safe, predictable, and respectful environment.
• Support customers with communication, structured transitions, and staying on task where needed.
