About The Position

Brightway Living & Learning is hiring a full-time Direct Support Professional (DSP) for its Adult Day Services program. The DSP supports individuals with disabilities in their daily lives by assisting with daily living activities, fostering independence, promoting well-being, and helping them connect with their communities. The position is hourly and pays $21.00–$23.10 per hour. A valid New York State driver's license held for at least 18 months, a clean driving history, and successful completion of Brightway’s Transportation Orientation are required for the stated rate. New hires who do not meet these transportation criteria will be offered a lower starting rate of $19.00 per hour. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Brightway provides paid training, ongoing professional development, and opportunities for advancement. The organization describes itself as a nonprofit human services provider on Long Island, supporting children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities through educational, residential, day habilitation, and vocational programs.

Requirements

Valid New York State driver's license held for at least 18 months.

Responsibilities

Provide individualized support with personal care, meal preparation, transportation, and community outings.
Help individuals develop life skills, foster independence, and make choices.
Support participation in community activities and promote social inclusion.
Serve as a positive role model by demonstrating empathy and patience.
Collaborate with DSPs, supervisors, and families.
