About The Position

Redwood Family Care Network is an innovative leader in person-centered home and community-based services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Its mission is to provide person-centered services, supports, and advocacy in positive, life-enriching environments. The Direct Support Professional promotes clients’ health, safety, and well-being, and advocates for improvements to their quality of life.

This full-time position is based in San Diego, California, and is scheduled for 6 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday through Monday. The role may include assisting clients with daily routines and personal care, preparing meals, and transporting clients in company vans when necessary.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must have a California Driver’s License.
• Must successfully pass all pre-employment requirements, including a background check.
• Must be able to lift 30 pounds.
• Must be able to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

• Direct Support Professional Certificate Year 1 and Year 2, or willingness to obtain them within the first two years of hire.
• First Aid/CPR and CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention), or willingness to obtain them.

Responsibilities

• Outline and prepare clients’ daily visual and active routines as written in their Individual Program Plan.
• Assist clients with bathroom needs.
• Change clients’ undergarments or clothing when needed.
• Prepare daily meals and assist with cleanup.
• Pick up and drop off clients between their homes and the facility in company vans when necessary.
• Promote clients’ health, safety, and well-being and advocate for their quality of life.
