About The Position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides support and care to individuals served by Skill Creations, Inc., including people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities, traumatic brain injury, and secondary mental health or substance abuse issues. The DSP works in an individual’s home and/or a community setting, providing one-to-one or group care according to each individual’s needs and plan of care. The role may include personal care, behavioral support, medication administration, job coaching and assistance, and support with independent living skills. DSPs also provide educational opportunities in communication and recreation or leisure. Work schedules vary. Full- and part-time positions start at $16.00–$20.00 per hour depending on the service provided; backup/PRN positions start at $16.00 per hour. Full-time staff, defined as those with 30 or more scheduled hours per week, are offered health, dental, and life insurance, holiday pay, paid time off, and a 401(k).

Requirements

High school diploma or GED from an accredited school.
Prompt and regular attendance for the assigned work schedule, including during inclement weather and some holidays.
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
Criminal record check.
Successful completion of coursework in CPR/First Aid and Behavior Management.
Basic computer skills for email, electronic training modules, and recording data.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Ability to balance, bend, stoop, and kneel occasionally, and remain on one's feet most of the time.
Ability to meet individual client-specific needs.

Responsibilities

Provide one-to-one or group support and care in individuals’ homes and/or community settings according to their needs and plans of care.
