The Direct Support Professional works on an interdisciplinary team that delivers superior quality of service and provides appropriate activities in a safe and healthy environment within the home and community setting. Essential duties include assisting clients in basic living skills and daily personal tasks such as showers, dressing, housekeeping, grocery shopping, preparing and planning meals, and financial budgeting. Providing transportation to and from activities and appointments as needed is also a key responsibility. The role requires maintaining good communication between staff regarding clients' needs and progress, accurately completing all required documentation, and strictly following documentation and maintenance of records for vehicles in compliance with Medicaid guidelines. The position involves reporting incidents and emergencies immediately, assisting in the formulation and management of the client’s Plan of Care, and following proper medication management guidelines. Organizing and carrying out recreational activities, acting as a good role model, and treating clients and their families with dignity and respect are also essential. The DSP will assist in maintaining FCC facilities and grounds, ensuring cleanliness and order, and assist in the maintenance of FCC vehicles. Attending necessary training and continuing education is required. Maintaining confidentiality of all information is crucial.
