The Direct Support Professional (DSP) in the Supported/Community Living Program will work 1:1 with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities in home and in the community with a focus on achieving goals and building independence. The DSP will help individuals stay active and engaged by providing transportation to fun community events, hobbies, appointments, shopping trips, and other outings / errands. They also assist with a variety of household duties including cleaning, laundry, meal prep, budgeting and establishing routines. Enrich and support the lives of the persons served while maintaining a safe and healthy environment. Provide companionship and personalized care while encouraging independence and self-care. Assist with activities of daily living, including community-based supports. Help the individual set and achieve goals; assist in overcoming personal barriers. Communicate with clients and their families to understand their interests, skills, abilities, goals, and support needs. Implement positive behavior supports and de-escalate challenging behaviors when needed. Duties may periodically include personal care assistance and support with prescribed medications. Other duties as assigned.
