About The Position

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) in the Supported/Community Living Program will work 1:1 with individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities in home and in the community with a focus on achieving goals and building independence. The DSP will help individuals stay active and engaged by providing transportation to fun community events, hobbies, appointments, shopping trips, and other outings / errands. They also assist with a variety of household duties including cleaning, laundry, meal prep, budgeting and establishing routines. Enrich and support the lives of the persons served while maintaining a safe and healthy environment. Provide companionship and personalized care while encouraging independence and self-care. Assist with activities of daily living, including community-based supports. Help the individual set and achieve goals; assist in overcoming personal barriers Communicate with clients and their families to understand their interests, skills, abilities, goals, and support needs. Implement positive behavior supports and de-escalate challenging behaviors when needed. Duties may periodically include personal care assistance and support with prescribed medications. Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age.
Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle is required.
Ability to maintain a professional demeanor, attire and personal presentation.
Ability to work independently and be resourceful to problem solve without direct supervision.
Dependable, adaptable, flexible.
Effective communication skills (reading, writing, and verbal) to document care, follow support plans, and collaborate with team members.
Must be able to provide references.
Able to attend two weeks of PAID in-house orientation and training.

Nice To Haves

Personal or professional experience working with persons with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
Experience in a front-facing customer service role and a true passion for helping vulnerable populations.

Responsibilities
