About The Position

Dungarvin is a mission-driven provider of person-centered support services, serving individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities and/or complex medical needs since 1976. The Direct Support Professional (DSP) provides direct support, hands-on instruction, assistance, and positive direction to individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities. The role supports individuals’ health and safety, achievement of service objectives, personal goals, and independence.

The position offers a variety of shifts: 7 a.m.–3 p.m., 3 p.m.–11 p.m., and 11 p.m.–7 a.m. The listed wage is $17.50 per hour, with a full range scale of $17.50–$19.50 based on title and geographical location. Paid training and orientation are provided.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Good reading, writing, and communication skills to document care, follow support plans, and collaborate with internal and external team members.

Nice To Haves

• One year of caregiving experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Enrich and support residents’ lives while maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
• Provide companionship and personalized care while encouraging independence and self-care.
• Assist with activities of daily living, including dressing, bathing, grooming, toileting, and eating.
• Prepare meals and snacks.
• Perform light housekeeping and laundry duties.
• Provide mobility and transfer assistance, which may include mechanical lift devices.
• Implement positive behavior supports and de-escalate challenging behaviors when needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
