Direct Care Worker (Bloomfield Hills/Rochester Hills)
About The Position
Alternative Services, Inc. (ASI) is hiring Direct Care Workers, also referred to as Direct Support Professionals, to support adults with disabilities in small group homes (Adult Foster Care homes) in Oakland County, Michigan. The role focuses on building positive, caring relationships and helping people with disabilities live meaningful lives. ASI provides 24-hour care, 365 days a year. The position involves assisting with daily living activities, including personal care, hygiene, basic health needs, medication administration, cleaning, cooking, and shopping. Direct Care Workers also act as advocates and role models, support individuals in leisure activities at home and in the community, and respect the rights, dignity, property, and privacy of the people they serve. No prior experience is necessary. Full-time second-shift positions (2 p.m. to 10 p.m.) and part-time third-shift positions (10 p.m. to 6 a.m.) are available in Bloomfield Hills, Bloomfield Township, and Rochester Hills, Michigan.
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must possess a valid Michigan driver's license.
- Must have excellent moral character.
Responsibilities
- Assist people served with daily living activities, including personal care, hygiene, and basic health needs.
- Administer medication.
- Clean, cook, and shop.
- Act as an advocate and role model in interactions with people served.
- Support people served as they participate in leisure activities at home and in the community.
- Respect the rights, dignity, property, and privacy of people served.
