About The Position

Two Six Technologies is seeking a Digital Signal Processing (DSP) Engineer to work on research and development programs in a hands-on laboratory environment in Herndon, Virginia. The role advances digital signal processing and wireless systems to analyze and secure complex communication technologies in support of the intelligence community. The engineer will work with RF engineers, embedded developers, and security researchers to reverse engineer real-world systems, develop wireless algorithms, and build RF applications for national security missions. The engineer will design, implement, and optimize DSP algorithms for wireless systems; analyze captured waveforms; develop RF receiver, transmitter, and modem architectures; and prototype solutions using software-defined radio (SDR) hardware and RF test equipment. The position also contributes DSP, SDR, and wireless communications expertise and reusable software patterns and infrastructure to a centralized development repository.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Expertise in software-defined radio, including receiver architectures, channelization, modulation and demodulation techniques, error-correcting codes, and spectral analysis.
  • Experience designing and implementing receiver, transmitter, and modem signal chains in cellular, radio, or RF communication systems.
  • Experience with physical layer (PHY) and Medium Access Control (MAC) layer concepts, including waveform processing, synchronization, channel estimation, framing, and link-level behavior.
  • Familiarity with open-source signal processing libraries and frameworks.
  • Experience with common SDRs, such as Ettus USRP Series, BladeRF, and PlutoSDR.
  • At least 3 years of experience with one or more modern development languages: C, C++, Embedded C, or Python.
  • Experience with collaborative Git workflows, including branching strategies, pull requests, and code reviews.
  • Active Top Secret clearance and ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated ability to architect and implement end-to-end wireless communication systems with real-world performance requirements.
  • Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Proficiency with SDR tools such as GNU Radio, Radio Hacker, GQRX, Vivado, or ModelSim.
  • Hands-on experience with one or more common DSP providers, such as Texas Instruments, Analog Devices, or STMicroelectronics.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and optimize digital signal processing algorithms for real-world wireless systems.
  • Detect, identify, classify, and decode captured waveforms.
  • Develop and evaluate receiver, transmitter, and modem architectures for RF systems.
  • Perform RF signal reception and transmission using common modulation schemes, including FSK, PSK, QAM, and OFDM.
  • Develop prototypes in laboratory environments using SDR hardware and RF test and measurement equipment.
  • Contribute subject-matter expertise in DSP, SDR, and wireless communications systems.
  • Contribute software design patterns, tools, and infrastructure to a centralized repository to build maintainable, reusable SDR building blocks.
  • Reverse engineer real-world systems and develop wireless algorithms and RF applications in support of intelligence community missions.
