Digital Signal Processing Software Engineer - R156

Expedition Technology•Herndon, VA

About The Position

Expedition Technology (EXP) is seeking a Digital Signal Processing Software Engineer to work across programs supporting the Intelligence Community and the US Department of War. The role involves developing mission-focused solutions for challenging defense and intelligence problems in collaborative, multidisciplinary teams. The engineer will design and implement signal-processing solutions; research and develop advanced digital signal processing and machine learning techniques for areas such as radar, electronic warfare, SIGINT, and RF geo-location; and create models to process and understand signal data. The role also includes transitioning signal-processing neural networks into field-ready, real-time software systems and considering the full lifecycle of solutions, from signal collection and processing through deployment and operational integration. The position may be filled at multiple career levels. Compensation depends on experience, education, technical expertise, specialized skills, and the level at which the role is filled. Salary ranges are $95,600–$147,200 for early-career, $130,300–$209,900 for mid-career, and $154,600–$242,900 for late-career candidates.

Requirements

  • United States citizenship.
  • Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
  • BA/BS in electrical engineering, physics, applied mathematics, computer science, or a related technical discipline.
  • At least 5 years of demonstrated experience creating, developing, and implementing DSP solutions supporting IC and DoW needs across on-premises, hybrid on-premises/cloud, and pure-cloud processing platforms.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to convey complex technical concepts internally and to external groups, including customers.
  • Ability to rapidly develop prototype DSP and machine-learning algorithm concepts and ideas with a focus on operationalization.
  • Programming experience in SIGINT-relevant DSP environments, such as X-Midas, Python-based DSP frameworks, or real-time processing pipelines.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement complex signal-processing solutions that support US intelligence and defense agencies.
  • Research and develop advanced DSP and machine-learning algorithms and techniques for applications including radar, electronic warfare, SIGINT, and RF geo-location.
  • Create DSP and machine-learning models that process and understand signal data faster, more accurately, and more efficiently.
  • Transition DSP and signal-processing-based neural networks into field-ready, real-time software applications and systems.
  • Design solutions with a full-system, end-to-end perspective, considering signal collection, processing, software implementation, deployment, and operational integration.

Benefits

  • Company-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 11 paid holidays and up to 34 days of PTO.
  • 401(k) plan with up to a 12% company contribution, including a 3% safe harbor contribution, a 6% match, and up to 3% additional contribution as profit sharing.
  • Option to reallocate a portion of 401(k) match funds to repay student loans.
