Digital Product Manager, External Customer Applications

James Hardie•Berwyn, IL
•$106,700 - $133,400

About The Position

James Hardie is seeking a Product Manager to lead the vision, execution, and continuous improvement of customer-facing applications that help homeowners and professionals discover products, build confidence, and take action. The portfolio includes AZEKNow, a contractor engagement platform, and related branded applications, visualizers, and pro match experiences. These products influence product discovery, confidence, lead quality, and conversion throughout the homeowner and professional journey. The role centralizes accountability for this portfolio and partners across Sales, Customer Experience, IT, and Marketing to deliver digital tools that help professionals win more work and homeowners buy with confidence. This is a product management role focused on defining customer problems and business opportunities, establishing product vision and value cases, aligning stakeholders on shared outcomes, and governing what is built and why. Product ownership translates product direction into stories and sprint sequencing, while IT owns architecture, security, and development. The manager holds one roadmap across multiple products, sequences work, promotes reuse, explains tradeoffs, and governs intake so customer-facing tools are managed as products rather than one-off projects. The role works within an end-to-end model in which the business brings strategy and need, the digital team defines what, why, and KPIs, digital and IT jointly determine how, and IT delivers. The Product Manager provides early clarity, supports healthy backlogs with context, acceptance criteria, and priorities, partners with IT on feasibility, complexity, integrations, and release planning, and reviews delivered outcomes using Jira and Workfront. The manager is accountable for product outcomes as well as releases, including defining KPIs, monitoring adoption and performance, optimizing based on data, and reporting portfolio performance and return on investment to Digital Experience and business leadership. Expected outcomes include on-time, high-quality releases; improved engagement and task completion for professionals and homeowners; improved lead quality and conversion attributable to portfolio products; scaled product practices, healthy backlogs, and clear team alignment; and increased cross-platform integration and reuse.

Requirements

  • Seven or more years of experience in digital product management or product ownership, including ownership of the what and why rather than only the backlog.
  • Experience owning more than one product at a time and prioritizing across products.
  • Proven experience with agile delivery, roadmap planning, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Familiarity with Jira, backlog refinement, user acceptance testing coordination, and stakeholder communication.
  • Practical analytics skills, including defining KPIs, interpreting data, and acting on findings.
  • Strong user empathy and a passion for translating insight into product solutions.
  • Credibility to maintain prioritization decisions with senior business stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in construction, building products, or business-to-business and business-to-business-to-consumer platforms.
  • Background with contractor or dealer engagement platforms, loyalty tools, or lead-matching products.
  • Familiarity with visualizers, configurators, CRM touchpoints, or customer data platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product vision and value case behind each major initiative.
  • Align Marketing, Sales, and Customer Experience around shared outcomes.

  • Own and evolve the roadmap for AZEKNow and the wider customer-facing application portfolio.
  • Prioritize across products and promote reuse of shared components and patterns.

  • Provide product ownership with context, acceptance criteria, and priorities to keep the backlog healthy.
  • Partner with IT on feasibility, complexity, integrations, and release planning before commitments are made.
  • Review delivered outcomes against intent using Jira and Workfront as the system of record.
  • Define KPIs for each product and connect them to lead quality, conversion, and engagement.
  • Monitor adoption, engagement, and quality after releases and act on the data.
  • Report portfolio performance and return on investment to Digital Experience and business leadership.
