About The Position

The Digital Navigator is a full-time American Connection Corps (ACC) AmeriCorps member serving with West Marion Inc. The member supports the Digital Bridge Collaborative, a partnership among West Marion Inc., IPHC en Español, MATCH, and NC Cooperative Extension, to reduce digital barriers in McDowell County. The role helps residents—especially older adults, low-income families, and people facing language barriers—build confidence and independence using technology and access online services and resources. The member provides resident-directed technology assistance at community locations, including libraries, senior centers, and partner sites; supports access to online health services, patient portals, and telehealth for technology-navigation purposes only; helps plan and deliver digital-skills sessions; and participates in outreach and collaborative activities. All work is performed under the guidance, supervision, and direction of program and host-site staff, using approved materials, procedures, and tools. The member must protect residents’ privacy and follow applicable confidentiality and data-security policies. The service term is December 7, 2026, through August 13, 2027, with approximately 40 hours per week and 1,200 total service hours. ACC members receive structured training and support, including national orientation, an in-person Winter Institute, twice-monthly virtual training, a community listening tour, program-coordinator support, peer meetings, and access to a national network.
