About The Position

The global Information Technology (IT) Function is leading efforts to align IT and Business Strategy, leverage IT investments, and optimize end to end business processes and associated information integration technologies. Through these efforts, IT helps to improve the competitive position of Corning's businesses through IT enabled processes. IT also delivers Information Technology applications, infrastructure, and project services in a cost efficient manner to Corning worldwide. Position Summary The intern will join the Manufacturing IT team at the Phoenix Solar Plant, supporting projects that improve the use of data, digital tools, reporting, and workflows across manufacturing and operational processes. This opportunity provides hands-on experience in a technical manufacturing environment while contributing to analytics, process documentation, automation, and evaluation of digital or AI-enabled tools.

Requirements

  • Student pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Analytics, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Ability to learn new technologies, processes, and business concepts quickly.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and engage with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and willing to take initiative and learn.
  • Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2027 (May-August 2027) with a graduation date of December 2027 or later
  • Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full-time job opportunity.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python, Power Automate, or similar reporting and automation tools.
  • Interest in applying AI or digital tools to improve workflows, reporting, or productivity.
  • Exposure to manufacturing, operations, industrial systems, or technical data environments.
  • Familiarity with data visualization, process mapping, or continuous improvement concepts.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, organize, validate, and summarize data from manufacturing, operational, technical, or business systems.
  • Support development and maintenance of dashboards, reports, and visualizations.
  • Identify opportunities to simplify reporting, improve workflows, and increase efficiency through digital tools.
  • Support process documentation, knowledge capture, and standardization activities.
  • Contribute to evaluation and use of AI-enabled or automation tools for reporting, information organization, or workflow improvement.
  • Partner with team members to gather requirements, understand business needs, and support project execution.
  • Research tools, technologies, and practices relevant to team priorities.
  • Support testing and implementation of new reporting, workflow, or digital solutions.
  • Communicate findings, observations, and recommendations clearly.
