About The Position

This is a full-time ACC AmeriCorps position with Tech Foundry. The American Connection Corps (ACC), an AmeriCorps program of Lead For America (LFA), is a service fellowship program aimed at helping communities build the digital connectivity necessary to expand opportunity and economic mobility. ACC Members spend a year serving with locally-rooted organizations, helping address the digital divide and strengthen access to opportunity. Tech Foundry helps people transform their lives through innovative workforce development that connects talent with opportunity. The Digital Equity Community Outreach Coordinator will assist in the creation of a robust and inclusive engagement/outreach project plan to address the digital divide in Western MA through Tech Foundry’s brick-and-mortar Tech Hubs. This role will promote and connect people to digital literacy training classes, helpdesk support, internet-ready device distribution, and referrals to additional workforce development opportunities. The position will also support expansion efforts in other Gateway cities, act as a liaison between Tech Foundry and the wider community, participate in community events, and engage with key community stakeholders. The Coordinator will also assist in overall Tech Foundry operations as needed.

Requirements

• Be a U.S. Citizen, National, or Lawful Permanent Resident.
• Hold a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Be 17 years of age or older by the start of service.
• Have not already served four (4) or more AmeriCorps State/National terms.
• Passion for community service and connecting your neighbors to the digital tools, skills, and opportunities they need to thrive.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Interest in gaining experience in community development or digital inclusion.

Responsibilities

• Research potential partners and communities to reach out to in designated regions (Hampshire, Franklin and Hamden counties).
• With the Director of Community Impact, develop project plan and outreach/engagement goals.
• Attend tabling and community events.
• Help organize and facilitate pop-up workshops in desired regions.
• Communicate with potential partners (email, follow-up phone calls, arranging/participating in visits).
• Oversee the distribution of marketing materials (print and electronic) related to Tech Hub support and training services, as well as pathways through workforce training programs and college courses.
• Assist in overall Tech Foundry operations as needed.
