About The Position

The Community Outreach Coordinator serves as the vital link between ASARCO and our neighboring communities. In this role, you will champion all community outreach activities for our Ray and Hayden mine operations. You will be responsible for creating, cultivating, and maintaining strategic alliances with residents, schools, local community government authorities, businesses, associations and industry partners to ensure a collaborative and mutually beneficial relationship.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Social Sciences, Education, or a related field (an equivalent combination of education and directly relevant experience will be considered).
  • 2+ years of professional experience organizing special events and community campaigns.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, with a proven track record of building positive, professional relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and virtual meeting tools (e.g., Teams, Zoom).
  • Comfortable with social media management, as well as basic photo and video editing software.
  • Ability and willingness to travel regularly to various mine sites and local community events.
  • Possess a current and valid driver’s license.
  • Successful criminal background check and pre-employment physical including a drug screen.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the mining or heavy industrial sector is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency in graphic design principles is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement innovative new community outreach programs while ensuring the seamless continuity and growth of existing initiatives.
  • Coordinate and execute all localized community outreach programs and specialized events at the Ray and Hayden sites.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders such as Human Resources, Operations and Land departments to support internal communications, corporate reporting, and employee engagement events.
  • Actively participate in community events, industry forums, and government functions to build and fortify strategic partnerships.
  • Manage "Social License to Operate" initiatives, maintaining transparent and proactive engagement with community partners, government entities, and NGOs.
  • Assist with environmental initiatives and public-facing permitting processes.
  • Provide collaborative support to the broader Community Outreach team and perform other duties as assigned.
