About The Position

Diabetes Canada is seeking a Digital and Direct Response Specialist to support the national Donor Response Marketing (DRM) program. This role involves executing and supporting multi-channel, single-gift donor acquisition and engagement campaigns across various platforms including direct mail, phone, email, online, and paid digital channels. The position reports to the Senior Manager, Annual Giving and collaborates closely with the Manager, Digital Fundraising, internal colleagues, and external vendors. Key responsibilities include overseeing tactical aspects of direct response initiatives, campaign delivery and operations, asset editing and approvals, stakeholder and vendor communications, and overall DRM program support. The role is based at Diabetes Canada's national office in Toronto, Ontario, with a flexible work arrangement offering remote work with one day per week onsite expectation, and additional in-office attendance as required.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary diploma or university degree, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in direct response fundraising; experience working within a large national charity is an asset.
  • Experience working with external fundraising agencies and vendors.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, with exceptional communication and multi-tasking skills; able to manage multiple priorities while ensuring timely project delivery.
  • Collaborative, adaptable and personable; excels at building strong relationships and is comfortable working with stakeholders at a variety of levels.
  • Proactive and solution-oriented with a can-do attitude, comfortable taking initiative and working independently as a key member of a high-performing team.
  • Strong computer skills, with high level of comfort working in MS Office, Teams and SharePoint.
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge or other CRM software is an asset.
  • Experience with industry online fundraising platforms (Fundraise Up, MailChimp, etc.) is an asset.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. Where applicable, must hold a valid work permit or study permit that allows you to fulfill the requirements of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage campaign critical paths, managing key deliverables and coordinating internal and external stakeholders, including vendors and partners, to ensure the successful, and timely delivery of single- and multi-channel campaigns and donor engagement initiatives.
  • Lead internal campaign kick-off meetings with Diabetes Canada’s (DC) cross functional stakeholder group and coordinate internal and external reviews and approvals of campaign data, copy and creative.
  • Act as the primary day-to-day contact for external vendors while campaigns are in-market, managing daily communications, including campaign questions and support, providing feedback and reporting, and escalating concerns as needed to DRM team campaign leads.
  • Provide campaign implementation support, working with DRM team campaign leads to coordinate and activate campaign operational support processes with cross-departmental stakeholders and external vendors.
  • Provide campaign data management support, including reviews of data segments and splits, and campaign results tracking.
  • Manage all internal DRM edits and approvals with cross-departmental stakeholders during asset development for all channels, including mail, email and media.
  • Provide day-to-day budget management support for the DRM team, including coordinating invoice payments with Finance, maintaining and updating team budget tracking tools, and supporting monthly team expense reviews.
  • Manage all internal DRM team communications regarding ongoing direct response campaigns to cross-departmental stakeholders.
  • Maintain and update results reporting and archive dated reports for future reference and analysis.
  • Support the Senior Manager, Annual Giving with donor service support, including fulfilling premium mailing requests, recording donor survey responses and implementing new fulfillment structures with external gift processing vendor as needed.
  • Maintain and update team hard and soft copy files and the DRM SharePoint site to ensure robust and accurate historical record of all campaign and program activities.
  • Conduct competitor analysis and sector best practice research to support special projects and the development of new initiatives, as identified by Senior Manager, Annual Giving.
  • This role is not limited to the responsibilities listed above and may include other duties as required.
