About The Position

The Digital Accessibility Assistant works within the Center for Excellence in Inclusive Teaching & Learning (CEITL) to assist with digital accessibility across campus. The bulk of this work will center around editing closed captions on video content to improve the accuracy of machine captions on instructional video to align with the ADA standard of 99% accurate closed captions with correct punctuation and capitalization. Student workers may also be asked to assist with the remediation of documents if time allows.

Requirements

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Good working knowledge of English spelling and grammar
  • Current undergraduate or graduate student

Nice To Haves

  • Successful completion of ENGL 101 or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Edit closed captions on video content to improve accuracy, ensuring correct punctuation and capitalization to meet ADA standards.
  • Assist with the remediation of documents such as PDFs, PowerPoints, or other course-related files, converting content into accessible formats in Word, PDF, and PowerPoint.
