About The Position

Responsible for the planning and implementation of digital learning accessibility plans in support of faculty to ensure online courses and digital instructional materials are usable by students with disabilities. Operates under the direct supervision of the department manager or designated supervisor. The role does not typically include supervisory responsibilities but may occasionally provide guidance to junior staff or new hires as part of onboarding and training processes. The position is expected to work independently on routine tasks while seeking direction for more complex assignments. Analysts are responsible for managing their own workload and deadlines, ensuring all tasks are completed accurately and efficiently. They may also collaborate with other team members and stakeholders to achieve department goals.

Requirements

  • Possess strong knowledge of best practices and principles behind setting, measuring, and refining KBRs and KPIs across a variety of business use cases.
  • Apply analytical and problem-solving solutions and break down complex technical issues into measurable actions.
  • Methods of documenting and tracking policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of all client configurations and when to dive into details.
  • Understand computer hardware, network administration and software applications hosted or locally installed.
  • Demonstrate proficient computer literacy and willingness to learn additional computer application software.
  • Apply customer service techniques and practices.
  • Develop training materials and delivery of training for staff.
  • Solve technical problems involving integrated operating systems and hardware platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of WCAG 2.x (Level AA), Section 508, ADA.
  • Proficiency with assistive technologies and automated testing tools.
  • Familiarity with Blackboard Ally, Blackboard Ultra, and digital content creation tools.
  • Understanding of inclusive design principles (POUR: Perceivable, Operable, Understandable, Robust).
  • Accessibility principles and practices in higher education.
  • Utilize problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with a broad range of users that are both technical and non-technical.
  • Ensure availability, dependability, and reliability of assigned applications.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials.
  • Effectively use interpersonal and communications skills including tact and diplomacy.
  • Effectively use organizational and planning skills with attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Use a variety of spreadsheets, word processing, database, and presentation software with emphasis on statistical charts, tables, and graphs.
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Four (4) years of related work experience or Associate’s degree plus two (2) years of related work experience can be substituted for the required education (plus the required experience noted below)
  • Two (2) years of related work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Associate Vice Chancellor of Distance Education in overseeing the daily digital accessibility operations, ensuring that digital learning environments and instructional content are consistently designed for universal access and ADA compliance.
  • Collaborate with the Associate Vice Chancellor to develop digital accessibility plans to support online and digital learning.
  • Evaluate digital learning assets (e-learning modules, PDFs, websites, videos) for WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) and Section 508 compliance.
  • Perform manual testing using assistive technologies (such as screen readers and keyboard navigation) and automated tools (e.g., Axe, WAVE).
  • Develop technical plans to fix accessibility barriers in content and systems, working with instructional designers and faculty.
  • Advise instructional designers, course developers, and faculty on best practices, conducts workshops, and creates accessibility training materials.
  • Document audit findings, track remediation progress, and maintain accessibility reports to ensure ongoing compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Collaborate with product teams to integrate accessibility considerations into the design and development process from the outset.
  • Support the resolution of accessibility issues and complaints.
  • Promote the benefits of accessible technologies.
  • Provide direct services as needed and maintain consistent and positive customer relations, responding to internal/external inquiries in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Stay current on accessibility laws, guidelines (such as WAI-ARIA), and industry trends to ensure compliance and optimal performance.
