About The Position

Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC (MHC) is hiring a part-time Diesel Service Apprentice / Mechanic Intern while the employee is enrolled in technical school. The role provides on-the-job training and allows the company to observe the intern’s technical competency, aptitude, and work attitude. The intern performs light maintenance and routine service until demonstrating the necessary skills. After satisfactory completion of the internship and school program, the intern will progress to the next appropriate level of responsibility. The intern performs assigned functions under close supervision of a Foreman, Leadman, Supervisor, or designated competent fellow employee. The position is designated safety-sensitive because duties may involve work around heavy equipment, machinery, or motor vehicles where a lapse of attention could result in injury, illness, or death. Requirements

Be enrolled in technical school while participating in the part-time position.
Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
Have good organizational and interpersonal skills.
Achieve satisfactory scores on ACT and/or Compass tests.

Responsibilities

Perform assigned job functions under close supervision of a Foreman, Leadman, Supervisor, or designated competent fellow employee.
Gain work-related knowledge and experience through on-the-job training and a technical school program.
Perform light maintenance and routine service until the necessary skills are demonstrated.
Maintain a neat and orderly work area and properly handle company tools and equipment.
Abide by all company and school policies.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
