About The Position

Murphy-Hoffman Company, LLC (MHC), North America’s largest Kenworth truck dealership and leasing group, is hiring a Diesel Service Apprentice / Mechanic Intern. This part-time position is for an employee enrolled in technical school and is intended to provide on-the-job training while assessing technical competency, aptitude, and work attitude. The intern performs light maintenance and routine service while developing the necessary skills. Upon satisfactory completion of the internship and school program, the intern may progress to the next appropriate level of responsibility. The role is safety-sensitive. Performing the job while under the influence of marijuana or another illegal drug may pose a threat to health or safety, particularly because the work may involve operating, repairing, maintaining, or monitoring heavy equipment, machinery, or motor vehicles, or handling hazardous materials or waste. MHC is a multi-state network of full-service diesel truck dealerships, leasing and rental operations, transport refrigeration locations, and a finance company offering finance and insurance services. Requirements

Be enrolled in technical school.
Have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Have good organizational and interpersonal skills.
Achieve satisfactory scores on ACT and/or Compass tests.

Responsibilities

Perform assigned job functions under close supervision of a Foreman, Leadman, Supervisor, or designated competent fellow employee.
Gain work-related knowledge and experience through on-the-job training and a technical school program.
Perform light maintenance and routine service as skills develop.
Maintain a neat and orderly work area and properly handle company tools and equipment.
Abide by all company and school policies.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
