About The Position

The Diesel Service Technician / Mechanic performs heavy-duty mechanical repair under general supervision and receives on-the-job training through a development program to achieve Service Journeyman status. The role performs or assists with general mechanical duties and gains experience working on engine overhauls, fuel systems, electrical systems, transmissions, cooling systems, chassis, brakes, engine tune-ups, and general maintenance. Major components are worked on under close supervision, while troubleshooting is performed on minor problems. The position also involves attending training sessions and meetings, maintaining an orderly work area and properly handling company tools, and advising the Shop Foreman when additional repair work is necessary. Employees are expected to follow safe work practices and procedures, use safety equipment when required, respond to safety suggestions, and seek assistance when necessary. This is designated as a safety-sensitive position.

Requirements

• Minimum three years of hands-on experience or graduation from vocational courses.
• A/C, Brake, and DOT Annual Inspector Certifications are required.
• Necessary tools to perform position responsibilities.

Responsibilities
