About The Position

Join Waste Connections as a 2nd Shift Diesel Mechanic to perform maintenance and repairs on garbage trucks, covering hydraulics, electrical, and engine systems. Requirements

Minimum of 2+ years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
Must provide own personal tools.
Extensive physical activity: requires strenuous physical work; heavy lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects over 50 pounds.
Ability to work in an environment that may be indoors in a shop or outdoors to repair trucks on the road.
Ability to work in awkward or tight positions and handle greasy or dirty tools.
Ability to follow basic safety precautions.

Nice To Haves

Welding/fabrication experience is a huge plus.
ASE Certifications Preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

Perform routine maintenance and repair engines, chassis, and body components, hydraulic cylinders, brake systems, suspension systems, cooling systems, wheels, and tires.
Inspect equipment and/or trucks for condition, operations, parts and fluid levels, differentials, final drives, pump drives, and hubs.
Repair hydraulic systems.
Utilize vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes and initiate or assign repairs.
Conduct safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
Complete required paperwork using fleet maintenance software, documenting parts usage and repair times.
Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
Perform other maintenance-related work as required.
Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
Perform required safety protocols while working on vehicles.
Effectively communicate needed repairs or tasks.
