About The Position

As a Diesel Mechanic – Customer Equipment Solutions (Service Tech IV - CES) at United Rentals, you will perform maintenance and repairs on complex equipment owned by customers, with limited or no supervision, in a skilled, safe, and professional manner. You will provide exceptional customer service and may have opportunities to work toward leadership roles in the Service Department. The position is designated Safety Sensitive under United Rentals’ policies and procedures.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
At least 5 years of experience repairing or maintaining equipment and tools.
Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
Knowledge of construction equipment and a strong mechanical background with various engines.
Advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams.
Must own tools applicable to the position.
Superior customer service, teamwork, and verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 pounds.

Responsibilities

Maintain and repair complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on rental and customer equipment and tools, using independent judgment.
Travel to customer job sites when required to repair or maintain customer-owned equipment, and keep the service vehicle clean and professional.
Assist in training lower-level technicians as needed.
Complete work orders and other paperwork or electronic documentation of work performed accurately and promptly each day.
Upsell and demonstrate a range of complex equipment to customers.
Assist with equipment and parts pickup and delivery.
Perform other duties as assigned.
