About The Position

Waste Connections is hiring a Diesel Mechanic in South Sioux City, Nebraska. The position is a first-shift role starting at 7:30 a.m., with 10–12-hour workdays. Pay is $26–$30 per hour. The mechanic supports the safety of drivers and reliable service to the community by inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing diesel vehicles, responding to emergency road calls, and maintaining a clean and safe work area. The role also involves documenting maintenance work, test-driving repaired trucks, and assisting other team members as needed.

Requirements

Proficiency with a variety of diesel vehicle diagnostic tools, preventative maintenance, and repair.
Basic tool set.

Hydraulic experience.

Responsibilities

Perform repairs, inspections, and safety checks on diesel vehicles.
Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems.
Use vehicle computer and electrical systems to interpret failure modes and identify and adjust engine and vehicle control modules.
Respond to road calls for emergency repairs.
Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
Complete required paperwork using fleet maintenance software programs.
Test-drive trucks after servicing and repairs.
Help other team members with repairs as needed.
Interact professionally and courteously with drivers when needed.
Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
Perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
