About The Position

JP Mascaro & Sons, a locally owned and operated private family-owned company, is experiencing record growth and success. Founded in 1964 with one truck, we have become one of the largest, most successful fully integrated solid waste companies serving the mid-Atlantic area. Our Wyoming Valley Division in Nanticoke, PA, is currently seeking Diesel Mechanics due to growth. We are looking for individuals who will perform diagnostic, repair, and maintenance on trucks and construction equipment, including auxiliary components, in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications. You will be knowledgeable in the safe operation of all garage tools, diagnostic equipment, lifts, hoists, and jacking equipment. The role involves identifying and obtaining necessary replacement parts, adhering to manufacturer’s warranty policies, and analyzing and resolving problems safely. You will correct vehicle deficiencies by repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems such as power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, and hydraulics. This includes completing machine shop operations and making adjustments and alignments. Special projects and other job duties will also be assigned.

Requirements

Diesel Engine Technical degree and/or training or relative and transferable experience
Knowledge in the safe operation of all garage tools, diagnostic equipment, lifts, hoists and jacking equipment
Ability to Identify and obtain necessary replacement parts as needed to execute repairs
Ability to read, understand and interpret technical data via instruction manuals
Basic computer skills with the ability to learn new systems and software
A valid driver’s license
Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
Must be organized and motivated to succeed with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks

Nice To Haves

A Commercial Driving License (A or B)
PA State Inspection License (highly desired)

Responsibilities

Perform diagnostic, repair and maintenance on trucks, construction equipment, including auxiliary components in accordance with manufacturer’s specifications

Adhere to manufacturer’s warranty policies and procedures
Analyze and safely resolve problems
Correct vehicle deficiencies by removing, repairing, adjusting, overhauling, assembling, disassembling, and replacing major assemblies, sub-assemblies, components, parts, or systems, such as, power and drive trains, electrical, air conditioning, fuel, emission, brake, steering, hydraulics; completes machine shop operations; making adjustments and alignments including bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, governors, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, and traction units
