About The Position

WM is hiring a Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair trucks and equipment that serve its customers. The role involves working with modern tools and procedures on diesel equipment and, at some locations, CNG trucks. The position is based in a repair and maintenance shop at WM’s Forest Grove, Oregon hauling site, with work also taking place outdoors in varying weather conditions. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with occasional Saturdays, on the second shift from 12:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The expected base pay is $36.00 per hour. The posting also lists a $1,000 tool allowance and a $200 annual boot allowance.

Requirements

At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Must be over 18 years of age.
Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Successfully complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Nice To Haves

At least 2 years of experience with CNG (Compressed Natural Gas).
At least 2 years of electrical knowledge or experience.
At least 2 years of hydraulic knowledge or experience.
Own tools.
Ability to complete two-week training in Arizona.

Responsibilities

Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
Estimate time and material costs for vehicle repairs and new parts.
Complete work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
Respond to emergency breakdown service calls.
Perform vehicle safety checks.
Complete required paperwork, document parts usage, and account for repair times.
Assist senior Mechanics with project work.
Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with Corporate and OSHA standards.
Perform all work according to established safety procedures.
