About The Position

WM is hiring a Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair diesel equipment and, at some locations, CNG trucks. The role is based at WM’s hauling site in Moreno Valley, California, and normally operates in a repair and maintenance shop, with work also taking place outside. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m., with occasional weekends. The listed base pay is $38.00, with a $2.00 shift differential. The position includes a $1,100 annual tool allowance and a $350 annual boot allowance. The successful candidate will help keep vehicles and equipment safe and operational, supporting WM’s collection and service operations.

Requirements

At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
Must be over 18 years of age.
Legally eligible to work in the United States.
Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Successfully complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Responsibilities

Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on a range of vehicles and equipment.
Estimate time and material costs for vehicle repairs and new parts.
Perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
Respond to emergency breakdown service calls.
Perform vehicle safety checks.
Complete required paperwork, document parts usage, and account for repair times.
Assist senior mechanics with project work.
Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with Corporate and OSHA standards, and follow established safety procedures.
