About The Position

WM is hiring a Diesel/CNG Mechanic to maintain and repair vehicles and equipment at its Rochester, New York hauling site. The position works in a repair and maintenance shop and involves servicing diesel equipment and, at some locations, CNG trucks. Mechanics use modern tools and procedures to perform maintenance that supports WM’s customers and local communities. The role is scheduled Monday through Friday on second shift, from 3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., with no weekends. The stated pay range is $30–$35 per hour, depending on experience. A $1,500 sign-on bonus is listed in the job title.

Requirements

At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
Be over 18 years of age.
Legally eligible to work in the United States.
Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Successfully complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Responsibilities

Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on a range of vehicles and equipment.
Estimate time and material costs for vehicle repairs and new parts.
Complete work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
Respond to emergency service calls for breakdowns.
Perform vehicle safety checks.
Complete required paperwork, document parts usage, and account for repair times.
Assist senior mechanics with project work.
Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with Corporate and OSHA standards, and follow established safety procedures.
