About The Position

WM is hiring a Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair trucks and equipment used to serve customers and local communities. The role involves working on diesel equipment and, at some locations, CNG trucks, using modern tools and procedures to perform maintenance safely and effectively. The normal work setting is a repair and maintenance shop at WM’s Newark, Ohio hauling site, with work also taking place in outside conditions. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with no weekends. Starting pay is $24–$34 per hour, depending on experience.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Must be over 18 years of age.
• Legally eligible to work in the United States.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Successfully complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
• Estimate time and material costs for vehicle repairs and new parts.
• Complete work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
• Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns.
• Perform vehicle safety checks.
• Complete required paperwork, document parts usage, and account for repair times.
• Assist senior mechanics with project work.
• Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with Corporate and OSHA standards, and follow established safety procedures.
