About The Position

WM is hiring a CNG / Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair diesel equipment and, at some locations, CNG trucks. The role is based at the Gastonia, North Carolina hauling site and normally operates in a repair and maintenance shop. Mechanics use modern tools and procedures to help keep vehicles and equipment serving the community safely and reliably. The position offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus, a quarterly tool allowance, a twice-yearly boot allowance, and benefits. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 2:00 p.m. until completion; when there is a holiday, Saturday work may be required.

Requirements

At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Must be over 18 years of age.
Legally eligible to work in the United States.
Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Responsibilities

Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on a range of vehicles and equipment.
Estimate time and material costs for vehicle repairs and new parts.
Perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
Respond to emergency breakdown service calls.
Perform vehicle safety checks.
Complete required paperwork, document parts usage, and account for repair times.
Assist senior Mechanics with project work.
Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate and OSHA standards, and follow established safety procedures.
