About The Position

WM is hiring a CNG / Diesel Mechanic to maintain and repair diesel equipment and, at some locations, its growing fleet of CNG trucks. The mechanic works in a repair and maintenance shop at the Gastonia, North Carolina hauling site, using modern tools and procedures to provide safe, high-quality maintenance. The position offers a $5,000 sign-on bonus, a quarterly tool allowance, a twice-yearly boot allowance, and benefits including healthcare coverage, education assistance, 401(k) matching, and family support programs.

Requirements

At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
A valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
Must be over 18 years of age.
Legally eligible to work in the United States.
Ability to perform the position's physical requirements, with or without reasonable accommodations.
Successfully complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.

Responsibilities

Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
Estimate time and material costs for vehicle repairs and new parts.
Complete work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
Respond to emergency service calls for breakdowns.
Perform vehicle safety checks.
Complete required paperwork, document parts usage, and account for repair times.
Assist senior mechanics with project work.
Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Corporate and OSHA standards and follow established safety procedures.
