About The Position
WM is hiring a Diesel Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair diesel vehicles and equipment that support the company’s collection and environmental services. The role works with modern tools and procedures and may involve CNG trucks at some locations. The position is based at WM’s Louisville, Kentucky hauling site, primarily in a repair and maintenance shop, with work also taking place outdoors and in varied weather conditions. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with a shift starting at 3:00 p.m. and no weekends. The stated starting pay is $30–$33.75 per hour, depending on experience. Requirements
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience.
- A valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
- Be over 18 years of age.
- Be legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Successfully complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and physical.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on vehicles and equipment.
- Estimate time and material costs for vehicle repairs and new parts.
- Perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs).
- Respond to emergency breakdown service calls.
- Perform safety checks on vehicles.
- Complete required paperwork, document parts usage, and account for repair times.
- Assist senior Mechanics with project work.
- Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
- Maintain a clean and safe work area in compliance with Corporate and OSHA standards, and follow established safety procedures.
