Fleet Diesel Mechanic- Level 3 or 4
About The Position
TCI Maintenance is hiring experienced Diesel Mechanics at Technician Levels 3 and 4 to maintain and repair truck and trailer equipment. This hands-on role involves diagnosing and repairing major components, replacing components, and performing preventive maintenance to keep equipment dependable and ready for operation. The mechanic works under the direction of a Lead Technician or Maintenance Supervisor on some repairs and diagnoses and repairs specified systems with little or no supervision. The position is based in New Orleans, Louisiana, with a Monday-through-Friday day-shift schedule. Availability for an on-call rotation and road service is required. Pay is $29.55–$36.02 per hour, depending on skills and experience, with overtime after 40 hours per week. The job posting also describes the team as serving its Baton Rouge location.
Requirements
- 4–6+ years of diesel engine repair experience.
- A valid driver’s license and ability to meet company insurability requirements.
- Ability to diagnose and repair the listed systems with little or no supervision.
- Self-motivation, leadership skills, and strong attention to detail.
- Availability to participate in an on-call rotation.
- Commitment to safety, quality work, and supporting teammates.
Responsibilities
- Assist with diagnosing and repairing major truck and trailer equipment components under the direction of a Lead Technician or Maintenance Supervisor.
- Remove and replace major components with careful workmanship and attention to detail.
- Diagnose and repair clutches, power take-off (PTO) systems, electrical systems, hydraulic and air brake systems, heating and air conditioning, instruments, and gauges with little or no supervision.
- Complete preventive maintenance services to keep equipment dependable and ready for operation.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and provide road service when required.
