About The Position

Sapp Bros is hiring an experienced Diesel Mechanic Technician for the night shift at $40 per hour. The technician services heavy-duty semi-tractors and trailers by inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical, electrical, and other defects, and providing diesel repair and maintenance services. The role also includes roadside and emergency field repairs, customer communication, work-order assistance, and helping train other team members. Sapp Bros operates travel centers from Utah to Pennsylvania and describes safety, quality, and customer service as important priorities.

Requirements

• Be reliable and hardworking, with strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
• Be organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a cooperative attitude, and a willingness to assist others.
• Be at least 18 years old.
• Have a valid driver's license and a good driving record.
• Be able to diagnose mechanical and electrical problems.
• Provide documentation establishing identity and eligibility to work legally in the United States.
• Be willing to undergo a criminal background check and employment reference check.
• Meet Sapp Bros service center standards through a combination of training, education, and/or experience.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED (preferred).
• At least one year of related automotive or diesel experience (preferred).
• ASE certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical, electrical, and other defects in heavy-duty semi-tractors and trailers.
• Provide a full range of diesel repair and maintenance services.
• Meet customer needs professionally, promptly, and efficiently.
• Replace and balance tires according to established procedures.
• Repair or replace starters, generators, and universal joints.
• Adjust or replace brakes.
• Discuss service and repair problems with customers when necessary.
• Assist in completing work orders.
• Perform emergency repairs in the field.
• Conduct minor arc welding.
• Assist in training and advancing other team members.
• Operate a service truck and provide roadside repairs, including tire repairs.
