About The Position

E.L. Harvey & Sons, part of Waste Connections, is hiring an experienced Diesel Mechanic at its Westborough, Massachusetts site. The role supports the safety of drivers and the service provided to the community by inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing diesel vehicles. The position pays $32.00 to $40.00 per hour, with potential to earn over $100,000 annually through available overtime and bonuses. The schedule has a 6:00 a.m. start time and runs 50–55 hours per week.

Requirements

At least 3 years of proven experience as an automotive or diesel mechanic.
Proficiency with a variety of diesel vehicle diagnostic tools, preventive maintenance, and repair.
Basic tool set.

Nice To Haves

Hydraulic experience.

Responsibilities

Perform repairs, inspections, safety checks, and diagnosis of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on diesel vehicles.
Use vehicle computer electrical systems to interpret failure modes and identify and adjust Engine and Vehicle Control modules.
Respond to road calls for emergency repairs.
Review, complete, or assign repairs identified on driver Vehicle Inspection Reports.
Complete required paperwork using fleet maintenance software programs.
Test drive trucks after servicing and repairs.
Assist other team members with repairs as needed.
Interact professionally and courteously with drivers when needed.
Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards.
Perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
