About The Position

This role is responsible for creating, maintaining, and repairing extrusion tooling using EDM wire machines, engineering drawings, and precision measuring tools to support production. The Die Maker will troubleshoot tooling and process issues, maintain records and performance data, and collaborate with engineering and operations while adhering to safety and quality standards. This position also supports the Process Engineer in the extrusion area by improving processes related to stabilization, cost reduction, and variance reduction, with a focus on continuous improvement projects, Six Sigma, TQM, and TPM. The role involves actively monitoring and improving processes, utilizing continuous improvement skills for systems and processes, and monitoring systems to identify trends and anomalies, including green/cured waste, ensuring reduction countermeasures are developed. The Die Maker will also assist in other plant areas to improve performance, track departmental improvement initiatives, and participate in TPM, Reliability, and Yellow Belt teams. Additionally, they will act as a team member on other work groups, manage and implement continuous improvement projects, provide timely resolutions for production issues, assist in daily troubleshooting, and act as a liaison to engineering services. Adherence to all safety and environmental regulations is required, along with working overtime as needed. The role involves reporting out to the department using data analysis, collection, and root cause analysis, as well as training others and developing work instructions, one-point lessons, process aids, and quality/process alerts. The Die Maker must be proactive, possess general computer skills, identify process problems, take ownership for results, monitor tooling inventory, ensure implementation of measures and controls, and be self-managed, detail-oriented, and capable of performing under pressure. Other duties as assigned may be required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two or more years’ manufacturing experience
  • Must be able to work the assigned shift for this position
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a team member on other work group teams and manages, identifies, develops, and implements continuous improvement projects.
  • Gives timely responses and effective resolutions for departmental production issues.
  • Assists in daily troubleshooting of the manufacturing process and acts as a liaison to engineering services for departmental project work.
  • Adheres to all safety and environmental rules and regulations.
  • Works overtime as required.
