Dialysis Technician

DaVita Kidney Care•Millbury, MA

About The Position

DaVita is hiring a Dialysis Tech (PCT) to provide patient care at its Auburn Road Dialysis Center in Painesville, Ohio. This position is expected to work three days per week, approximately 30 hours weekly, with opportunities to pick up shifts at other clinics. Hours may vary during paid training, when teammates typically work 30–40 hours per week. Shifts can start as early as 4:00–4:30 a.m.; schedules may vary based on patient needs. The position may require floating to other clinics in the region, including North Ridge, Ashtabula, or Kingsville. New dialysis teammates receive a paid training program combining classroom and hands-on instruction. Training may take place at a facility or training clinic with a group of new teammates rather than at the assigned home clinic. DaVita also reimburses the Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT) license and offers a clinical career ladder. The PCT provides direct, one-on-one patient care and may care for up to four or five patients at a time. Duties include preparing the water room and bicarbonate, testing water for chlorine, checking tool calibration, setting up hemodialysis machines, and monitoring patients before, during, and after treatment by measuring and recording statistics and observing their condition. The role includes educating patients about kidney dialysis and building ongoing relationships with patients receiving treatment an average of three times per week. PCTs work under RN supervision as part of a cross-functional clinical team. The clinic has 13 chairs and uses Fresenius dialysis machines. The typical clinic staffing includes one RN and three Dialysis Techs. The role involves exposure to blood and needles and mixing acid or bicarbonate. Work may include long shifts, sometimes exceeding 12 hours, and ends when it is safe for patients.
