DaVita is seeking a Dialysis Technician, also referred to as a Patient Care Technician (PCT), to care for patients at its Dover Dialysis Center in Dover, Ohio. The role provides direct, one-on-one patient care for people receiving dialysis, typically three times per week, and involves caring for up to four or five patients at a time. PCTs monitor patients before, during, and after treatment; measure and record vital statistics and observations; set up hemodialysis machines; and educate patients about kidney dialysis. Opening duties include preparing the water room and bicarbonate and testing water quality and equipment calibration. The PCT works under RN supervision as part of a cross-functional clinical team. Paid training is provided through a mix of classroom and hands-on learning. Training may be at a facility or training clinic rather than the employee’s assigned home clinic. The clinic operates Monday through Saturday, 4:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Shifts are 12 hours and may begin as early as 3:00 a.m.; schedules vary with patient needs and census. PCTs generally work three to four days per week, including at least two Saturdays per month, and must be available for mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Training hours are typically 32–40 hours per week, though they may vary. The position may require working across multiple clinics in the territory. DaVita offers reimbursement for the Certified Hemodialysis Technician (CHT) license and opportunities to advance through a clinical career ladder. The posting describes development opportunities including Preceptor University and Bridge to Your Dreams, a pathway for qualifying PCTs to pursue registered nursing with fully funded tuition and career coaching.
