DevOps Engineer

Yieldstreet is seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to join their team responsible for managing the technical infrastructure. The role involves ensuring the smooth operation of their suite of reactive applications on AWS, as well as planning for potential issues and collaborating with product engineering teams. The Infrastructure Engineer will work on tasks such as building infrastructure, developing automation tooling, enhancing deployment patterns, increasing reliability through testing and disaster recovery planning, and promoting observability and resilience. This position reports to the Infrastructure Engineering Manager and offers the opportunity to work partially remotely.

• Keep the applications available and ensure smooth operation of technical infrastructure
• Plan for worst-case scenarios and work with product engineering teams to ensure proper resources and provisions are in place for graceful failure
• Build infrastructure by determining the best infrastructure and middleware for applications, choosing database engines, benchmarking server configurations, working with consultants, and validating assumptions with service providers
• Develop automation tooling to minimize human interaction, including writing Terraform modules and code for infrastructure deployment, using Ansible/CloudInit to bootstrap servers, and automating additional processes with Python/Golang code
• Work with the Cybersecurity team to enhance defenses against bad actors and internal threats, using EDR and SIEM tools, and developing checks against CIS Benchmarks
• Develop pipelines for building and deploying applications, improving build tools and underlying jobs, and ensuring security through static code analysis, container layer security scanning, and infrastructure testing
• Increase reliability by developing testing plans and drills for backups and disaster recovery, practicing observability by discovering new metrics, and conducting chaos engineering to test service resilience
• Respond to critical incidents and troubleshoot technical issues as needed

• Experience operating cloud native applications
• Knowledge of infrastructure and middleware selection for applications
• Familiarity with database engines and benchmarking server configurations
