About The Position

Great American’s Software Lab is seeking a DevOps Developer Intern for summer 2027 within Property & Casualty IT Services. The intern will help deliver and maintain Surveyor-related products that support developer experience, code quality, and technical debt management. Surveyor is a portal for gathering, tracking, and reporting technical debt across the GAIG portfolio. The role also involves using AI to improve software quality, performance, and delivery time.

This is a hybrid role combining in-office and remote work. Employees are expected to maintain a meaningful on-site presence, and the intern must be able to work in the office at least three days per week.

Requirements

• Must be able to work in the office at least three days per week.
• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Expected graduation year of 2028 or 2029.
• Familiarity with Python, scripting, Java, and Kotlin.
• Ability to contribute while learning within a large polyglot codebase.
• Comfort with the challenges of learning new things.
• Interest in exploring new programming paradigms, languages, and patterns.
• Demonstrable ability to research problems and break them into discrete parts.
• Empathy with pair-programming partners and willingness to exchange feedback continually.
