About The Position

SAP America, Inc. is hiring multiple Development Principal Consultants for its Newtown Square, Pennsylvania location. The position follows a hybrid work model and focuses on creating concepts for interfaces, extensions, enhancements, and development projects. The consultant will promote SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) as an integration and extension platform and support customers’ transformation toward the Intelligent Enterprise.

The role includes analyzing the feasibility of new and changed services and interfaces; defining integration scenarios based on customer business processes; implementing and coding services and interfaces; and coaching partners. The consultant plans and coordinates integration tests, reviews integration and development concepts in line with SAP’s BTP strategy, and supports end-to-end integration design across on-premise, cloud, and hybrid environments. Other work includes supporting solution proposals and bid management, occasionally leading projects or teams, delivering customer workshops and training, addressing solution gaps through development or non-SAP integrations, advising on BTP technology trends, and designing composites, applications, and development projects.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field and seven years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a related occupation; alternatively, a relevant master’s degree or foreign equivalent and five years of experience. The position requires up to 20% domestic travel to customer sites. The annual base salary range is $160,480–$272,720, with a targeted combined compensation range of $200,600–$340,900. Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field and seven years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a related occupation; alternatively, a master’s degree or foreign equivalent in a relevant field and five years of experience.
• At least three years designing, developing, and implementing integrations using SAP BTP Integration Suite or Cloud Platform Integration, SAP BTP technologies, and technologies such as ALE, IDoc, XML, SOAP, OData, REST, JSON Webservices, ABAP Server and Client Proxies, or Remote Function Modules.
• At least three years supporting and implementing EDI and B2B integrations, and de-escalating critical integration projects using incident management and root-cause analysis while minimizing business outage.
• At least three years implementing, guiding, and supervising customer system integrators and vendors on SAP BTP and cloud integrations using SAP reference architectures, platform patterns, reusable components, and integration standards aligned to SAP AI strategy.
• At least three years of SAP PI or SAP PO experience and migration of SAP PI dual-stack interfaces to SAP PO and SAP AEX single-stack interfaces.
• At least three years gathering business requirements, performing gap analysis, and translating requirements into interface technical specifications for custom integrations and SAP developments.
• At least three years leading SAP integration testing, including interface unit, integration, regression, volume and performance, user acceptance, smoke, or beta testing.
• At least three years of SAP ABAP development to enhance standard integration functions of SAP S/4HANA and SAP ERP.
• At least three years securing SAP inbound connections with client certificate-based authentication and implementing SAP security and TLS.
• At least one year architecting agentic systems, tool orchestration, and LLM-driven workflows for intelligent and autonomous application behaviors.
• At least one year bridging product vision and technical execution by translating AI use cases, concepts, and strategic goals into scalable, governed architectures and actionable engineering plans for complex SAP customer software implementation, upgrade, and change management.
• Ability to travel domestically up to 20% to various customer sites.

Responsibilities

• Create concepts for interfaces, extensions, enhancements, and development projects.
• Promote SAP Cloud Platform and leverage Business Technology Platform capabilities to support the Intelligent Enterprise.
• Analyze feasibility for new and changed services and interfaces.
• Define integration scenario specifications based on customer business processes.
• Implement and code services and interfaces, and coach partners during implementation.
• Plan and coordinate integration tests.
• Review integration and development concepts in accordance with SAP’s Business Technology Platform strategy.
• Support end-to-end integration design across on-premise, cloud, and hybrid environments using current methodologies.
• Support solution proposals and bid management.
• Periodically take responsibility as a project or sub-project lead.
• Periodically take team-lead responsibility and support line managers with people development tasks.
• Deliver customer workshops and training.
• Address solution gaps with individual development components or integrations with non-SAP components.
• Advise on preferred technology trends within BTP development.
• Support the design of development projects and ensure application of BTP standards.
• Design and implement composites and applications.
• Design and integrate non-SAP components.
• Support SAP solution implementation at customer sites, including through domestic travel.
